It was the ancient Greeks who first referred to The Canary Islands as ‘The Fortunate Isles’, Greek mythology noted the importance of the islands as a gateway to the afterlife for mortals related to the Gods, the great heroes or the most righteous of beings.
Thankfully nowadays the criteria in regards to who steps off the plane to enjoy the wonderful climate and culture of Gran Canaria isn’t so strict, although the name ‘The Fortunate Isles’ has remained. Read more

Health, peace and prosperity. These are the three heartfelt wishes that the Anfi Group wants to offer you for next year.
Time has gone by so fast that we haven’t even realized it, and we are quickly heading for 2013.
We’ll be leaving behind a good year, which has seen some difficult moments but which we have faced with effort and hard work.
The world is becoming faster and more global by the second due to the new technologies, thus you are reading this message via this new blog.
More global too are the challenges that always exceed our expectations.
Nowadays we need strength and the ability to dream in order to work on and believe in new projects and future investments.
This new year will see the start of the construction of the Anfi Tauro Marina, the launch point of a huge dream: the complete development of a unique project in Europe: Anfi Tauro Valley.
Anfi, continually growing, is always endeavoring to be more efficient and competitive and is always striving for excellence. The well-being of our members is our main objective and the reason of our existence.
The Anfi Group knows the path to follow and how to move forward. This year we have a new colleague on board: David Silva, football player from the Manchester City Team. David is from Mogán and has seen how Anfi has grown since his childhood; without a doubt Silva will be the best ambassador we could have, together with Alberto Contador and his “blue bullets” leading the SaxoTinkoff Team.
2013 is also an important year for the Anfi Group since we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary. We are confident that thanks to the effort from the Anfi staff we will be here to celebrate the next 25 years together with our greater treasure: our members, who are the real heart beat of Anfi’s big family.
But in order to move forward we need to act with intelligence and humility, key aspects that are the main characteristics of Anfi’s work force. There are many challenges and hopes that will mark next year. Albert Einstein stated that a crisis is a blessing as it gives us the opportunity to progress. The future we hope to see won’t come on its own; we have to fearlessly build it together right now. Only with a great dose of trust, determination and effort we can beat the crisis and achieve all our aims.
During this festive season full of the warmth of sharing with our loved ones, we would like to offer you best wishes for next year, and that these come true and full of happiness and health.
Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year
Exciting news at Anfi! David Silva, the Manchester City player, has signed up to be the face of Anfi for the upcoming year and of course we are delighted to team up with our “local hero”.
David Silva, the twenty-six-year old mid fielder, was born just a stone’s throw away from Anfi in the village of Arguineguin, the bustling fishing town and home to the weekly market. As a child David enjoyed his first kick around with his friends on Anfi beach and over the years many of his family members and neighbours have been employed in Anfi.
Home from Home
Silva, along with his fellow neighbours, witnessed the evolution of the Anfi resorts – from the excavation of the first rocks from the mountainside a quarter of a century ago, to the award winning resorts that Anfi are today.
The Anfi Group CEO, Jose Trujillo, said, “What better ambassador than David Silva to represent Anfi to the world. He’s a local hero whose own personal success and development have paralleled that of Anfi. He has seen how Anfi has grown over the years and has experienced first hand the luxury of the resorts”.
Silva who will feature in a publicity campaign in the coming months in various European countries said, “I am really happy to lend my support to promote Anfi, such an important company for Gran Canaria and which has such firms roots in my town”.
He continued, “I’m proud to be from Gran Canaria and to be able promote my island and Anfi throughout all of Europe”.
Silva & Anfi Campaign
The publicity campaign will feature Silva’s image around the UK as well as other main European cities with the aim of encouraging people to visit Gran Canaria and increase Anfi’s brand recognition throughout its most important European markets.
We hope you will join us in welcoming Silva to our Anfi family and remember to keep your eyes open during your next holiday at Anfi, you never know, you might just spot him having a kick about on Anfi beach!
