The Latin vibe was in full swing at Anfi yesterday, as Salsa dancing, Mojito mixing and Cuban music filled the air, as we kick-started the first week of ‘Anfi Spring Fest’ with the much anticipated ‘Tropical Day’.
The fun began with a dance workshop, taught by the vivacious Rosi, who has been dancing Latin rhythms for over 25 years.
Within moments, Rosi, originally from Cuba, had the assembled crowd of over 50 people, shaking their hips, laughing and feeling the groove, with shouts of “Mucho culito, culito!” which roughly translates to “Lots of bottom, bottom!” and everyone certainly did shake those hips!
After warming up with Salsa, Rosi moved onto Merengue and Bachata, giving our Members a taster of everyone’s favourite Latin dance steps.
We spoke with Anfi Member Kirstin Dverre, from Sweden, who told us “I took and enjoyed Salsa classes 5 years ago and now my daughters are taking classes, it’s wonderful to be able to try again at Anfi”.
Kirstin had originally booked two weeks at Anfi but was able to add an additional week to her holiday via the ‘Spring Fest’ offer. “I was so happy to discover I could have an extra week at Anfi, we love it here”.
Spring Fest is running again this year throughout May and June and it enables Members who book their Anfi weeks during this time to have additional weeks at Anfi, subject to availability, via a 2 for 1 week promotion.
For more information on forthcoming ‘Spring Fest’ offers keep your eye on the Members’ Area of the Anfi website via this link right here.
Teresa O’Sullivan, a long-time Member of Anfi Beach Club and now Anfi Emerald Club, was enjoying the ‘Tropical Day’ Salsa class with her friend Yvonne Stamp.
Teresa commented, “Salsa classes in the UK are always well booked, so this is a great opportunity to try it out.”
“This is another reason we just love coming to Anfi, it’s got it all – a great family atmosphere, wonderful weather, great restaurants, just everything we want. We have never regretted becoming Members.”
There was certainly a great feeling of Club spirit in the air as Anfi Members of varying ages and nationalities took to the dance floor together. Our younger Anfi Members Robin, Stefano and Guillermo, friends from Holland on holiday with their parents, were busting some great Salsa moves.
They told us how they loved Anfi, the beach, the pools, the facilities and service, but “especially the girls!”
After dancing their way through numerous songs, Rosi and the Anfi Members finished off the class with a ‘Conga’ trail around the dance floor, much to the delight of the young children taking part.
But the fun didn’t stop there!
After working up a thirst, our Members enjoyed a ‘Mojito Workshop’ and free tasting with popular Anfi waiters Dayan and Jose. And three lucky Members were treated to a Mojito via a free raffle; much needed after the intoxicating music and lively dancing.
We ended ‘Tropical Day’ with a session from a Cuban band, who played both covers of popular and traditional Cuban music, which of course included a rising performance of ‘Guantanamera’, complete with maracas and bongo drums!
Everyone we spoke to agreed that the atmosphere was incredible. Whilst Members chilled around the pool areas and sipped cool drinks at the Tropicana bar, the heady Cuban music floated out around them and had everyone tapping their feet and practicing their Salsa moves!
We’ve got lots more exciting events coming up this year at Anfi to celebrate our 25th year anniversary, so keep your eye on the Members’ Area of the Anfi website for more info.
Coming soon we have our ‘Members’ Week’ which is running from 22nd to 29th of June. When we will be hosting another ‘Tropical Day’ alongside lots more extra activities and special events.
As always we will be posting regular news here on the Anfi Blog and via our Facebook page, so don’t forget to ‘like’ for regular updates.
We’re set for a sizzling and fun-filled summer this year at Anfi, so grab your dancing shoes and come join the party!
