Can you imagine a better place to spend your retirement than Gran Canaria?
Well, for three firm friends who want to escape to paradise – that’s the dream they’re set to follow!
Anfi’s heart shaped island was the setting yesterday for a scene for the German TV Movie, ”Mutti Steigt Aus” (Mom Takes Off). The movie, directed by Gloria Behrens, is based on the best seller by Tessa Harding and follows the adventures of three best friends: Maria, Elke and Sigrun who come to Gran Canaria on holiday.
The ladies are reaching their pension age but have no intention of spending their retirement years in an old people’s home back in cold Germany. Instead, after discovering the wonders of Gran Canaria and falling in love with the island, they decide to buy house together and set up home in the sun.
Their only rule is that their new home should be a “A Men Free Zone!”.
This is a feel good story reminiscent of the Golden Girls and full of surprises, misunderstandings but finally, a very happy ending.
In the scene filmed on Anfi Island we see Maria’s son (Simone Böer) who is selfishly trying to talk his mother out of following her dream making up with his more sympathetic girlfriend (Isabela Surel).
The film perfectly portrays the scenery, the beauty and the colour of the destination and captures the essence of the island as a sunshine paradise.
The Anfi Group is always delighted to collaborate with projects that promote our island so favourable.
The movie will be released in March 2013. We’ll keep you updated here on our blog!
