Haridian Sosa has been working in Anfi for the last three years in charge of the Adventure programme where she ran hiking, Nordic walking, rapple and absailing activities.
If yes, you’ll be pleased to hear that the nearby fishing village of Arguineguin has lots going on throughout the week to mark the Easter holidays.
The picturesque fishing village of Arguineguin, is the closest town to Anfi, and is a firm favourite for anyone visiting Gran Canaria. It can be reached by car or bus in less than 10 minutes, although many people choose to walk from Anfi along the coastal path. It’s a gentle walk that takes approximately 30 minutes. Don’t forget to grab a bottle of water before you set off!
The most popular day to visit Arguineguin is Tuesday as this is market day. Hundreds of people flock to the village to browse the stalls for souvenirs, fresh produce and artisan crafts.
The village also boasts a superb selection of fresh seafood restaurants and quaint Tapas Bars, as well as a bustling harbour and small, a sheltered sandy beach.
During the Easter week celebrations the town will be a hive of excitement as a fairground is being set up in the market square.
Beginning on Wednesday 25th March through to Sunday 31st March, there will be stalls offering lots to tempt visitors, including food stalls serving delicious local delights, such as grilled fat chorizo sausages, roasted red peppers and the famous Canarian wrinkled potatoes with the spicy Mojo sauce, papas arrugadas con mojo.
On the Thursday 28th March, the churro stalls, which serve a traditional type of sugared doughnut, will be offering free churros and hot dipping chocolate to children from 18:00 hours onwards.
During the celebrations the fun will begin in the early evening, carrying on late into the night, in true Canarian-style.

We have got lots of cracking Easter fun lined up at Anfi and below are some of the highlights!
Our Anfi mascot, Benito the Bull, loves to draw. In fact, one of his favourite hobbies is drawing pretty pictures of Anfi Beach!
So to celebrate his love of art, Benito is launching an exciting new drawing competition to uncover the budding artists amongst our mini-Members and guests.
The competition will be organised by the Anfi Mini Clubs and is open to any children staying at Anfi up to the age of 12 years.
To enter, our mini-guests need to draw or paint a picture, on a special drawing sheet available from Anfi Mini Clubs, of their favourite thing about their Anfi holiday.
It can be a picture of the pool, the mini-golf, a beach scene or a fun excursion they took part in during their holiday – anything that means ‘My Anfi Holiday’ to them!
The competition will be judged in 2 categories (3 – 6 years) and (7 – 12 years).
Each month Benito will choose a winner from both categories out of the participants from our 4 Mini Clubs. We will feature these 8 winners on the Anfi Facebook page and ask our Facebook page fans to choose a winner from each category.
The winners will then receive a great selection of Benito goodies by post!
Plus, at the end of the year we will enter all of our monthly winners into our big prize draw and the lucky winners from each category will receive an iPod!
Good luck everyone and happy drawing!
For further information please contact our Mini Club staff situated at Anfi Beach Club, Club Monte Anfi, Club Gran Anfi and Anfi Emerald Club.
Yes it is Father’s Day here in Spain!
El Dia del Padre is celebrated throughout Spain, Portugal and South America on the 19th of March. It coincides with St Joseph’s Day which commemorates Joseph, the patron saint of carpenters and possibly history’s most prolific Father.
All over Gran Canaria people will be celebrating today with a family get together and you too could join in the celebrations. Why not surprise the Dad in your life by wishing him a Happy Father’s Day in Spanish, ‘Feliz dia del Padre’!
Or if you are at Anfi right now, spoil him with a surprise Father’s Day Treat – as the saying goes, ‘when in Rome, do as the Romans do’.
We have a great selection of exhilarating water sports available at Luis Molina Sports on Anfi Beach or why not book up a scuba diving session at Scuba Sur situated in the Anfi shopping centre?
And what Dad could resist a delicious Indian meal or a fresh pizza from our restaurants? Then of course there is always the Havana Bar, situated next to the Plaza, showing live sports and serving cool beers – the perfect Father’s Day treat!
Happy Father’s Day to all the great Dads out there!
We will also be letting you know all about our great new drawing competition, which will be open to all of our younger guests during their holiday at Anfi. Benito the Bull is going to be checking out and judging the artwork and each month a winner will be drawn to win a great prize!
Keep your eye on The Anfi Blog next week for full details.
Have a great weekend!

Have you ever dreamt about leaving your job, packing up and moving away from your homeland to settle in sunnier climes?
This is the dream of many people, and the dream that Anfi representative Peter Grusdat. I caught up with Peter to hear his story and discover what brought him to Gran Canaria and to work at Anfi.
A New Beginning
Peter, who is from Munich in Germany, has been living in Gran Canaria for 5 years, although he is a relative ‘newbie’ at Anfi, having worked here for only 6 months. He is currently working as a representative within the German team and is loving his new job.
Unlike the majority of the sales staff that work in Anfi, Peter had never worked in sales or in the Vacation Ownership field before coming to Anfi, but within a short time he has settled and is now thrilled with his new vocation.
“I love working at Anfi. It’s an impressive resort but more than anything I enjoy meeting new and interesting people and my job here allows for that every day. I like getting to know the clients discovering what they are looking for from their holiday experience. It’s never boring that’s for sure!”
A Life of Martial Arts
As well as working full-time at Anfi, Peter runs a successful Martial Arts Academy ‘WT Academy Canarias’, situated in El Tablero, near Maspalomas in the south of Gran Canaria.
He teaches the ancient martial art of Wing Tsun, which was practised by Bruce Lee and Escrima or Filipino Stick Fighting.
Peter is a master or Sifu, and has been practising martial arts for over 24 years, including Taekwondo, Kickboxing and Thai kickboxing, and before coming to Gran Canaria he run his own successful academy in Munich.
After coming to work in Gran Canaria, in the outdoor pursuits field, Peter was soon setting up his own Martial Arts Academy on the island.
He now teaches over 70 students, in both group and private lessons. His students are aged from 15 years and upwards and come from a wide range of backgrounds. Many of Peter’s students work in the Canarian police force, where Wing Tsum is highly regarded as a method of self-defence.
“Wing Tsun and Escrima encourage a healthy balanced lifestyle as they are closely linked to Buddhism and Taoism, they also promote flexibility and teach the body to move more fluidly. Anyone over the age of 15 can learn these arts and they do not contain high kick movements which some people find off putting in certain martial arts.”
In addition, to his work Peter is a keen motorcycle enthusiast, and in his spare time he likes to ride his beloved chopper motorbike through along the hairpin bend roads of Gran Canaria.
So how does Peter see his life on Gran Canaria evolving?
“I want to continue working at Anfi and developing my career here further. This is a completely new direction for me, so there is a lot to learn. I am also planning to set up another martial arts academy in Fuerteventura, which will be run by a former student. In addition to this I am overseeing academies being opened in Las Palmas, again by my students. “
If you are interested in learning more about Wing Tsum or Escrima take a look at Peters website, or why not catch up with Peter when you’re next at Anfi and see if you can book up a private lesson during your holiday!
Summer 2012 saw Anfi hold its first regatta and it was a great success. We thought we’d share last year’s video with you to whet your appetite and put a little sunshine into your day. We hope you enjoy it !
Over 24 yachts took part over the two-day event which took place in the bays of Anfi, Patalavaca and Playa del Cura.
The event saw Olympians Onán Barreiros and Aaron Sarmiento, yachtsmen from the 470 del Real Club Náutico of Gran Canaria, taking part.
The conditions were perfect and during the regatta the champions described Anfi del Mar as, “a paradise for sailing” saying that, “there isn’t any place in the world like this”.
Remember to keep your eye on Facebook and here on The Anfi Blog for details of this year’s regatta!
Following on from the International Women’s Day events taking place all over the world today, it seems very fitting that this coming Sunday is also Mother’s Day in the UK.
We have some great treats available at Anfi too, so that you can spoil the Mum in your life during your holiday.
Flores de Anfi can prepare you a beautiful bouquet and they also have a delightful range of costume jewellery, adding a special touch to any floral gift.
How about pampering the Mum in your life with a voucher for an Anfi Wellness treatment during their holiday?
Or maybe surprise that special lady with a dinner reservation at your favourite restaurant, complete with a bottle of delicious Spanish Cava waiting at your table.
Happy Mother’s Day!
