If you are holidaying in Gran Canaria right now you’re sure to notice that the shops and florists are adorned with signs stating ‘Dia de la Madre’, this is because this coming Sunday is Mother’s Day in Spain.
Mother’s Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in May, families give presents and flowers much the same as throughout Europe.
In addition, many families enjoy a traditional meal at home or go out to eat in a local restaurant. The habit of eating out on a Sunday lunchtime is extremely popular in Gran Canaria and never more so than on Mother’s day. If you are planning to have lunch in a restaurant this weekend it’s a very good idea to reserve your table or arrive early to avoid a long wait.
If you are in Anfi, why not take the opportunity to surprise the ‘Madre’ in your life. We have a wide range of shops selling everything from perfume to jewellery, and of course there is always Flores de Anfi, our resort florist.
The friendly Ana, at Flores de Anfi is a gifted florist, with an eye for detail. Alongside a wide selection of blooms, Ana also sells potted plants, ornaments and beautiful jewellery, which she can artistically incorporate into a bouquet.
Anfi Wellness Centre can offer you a choice of beauty and pampering treatments, and of course we have a wide selection of restaurants at Anfi, where you can enjoy a relaxing Mother’s Day meal.
And for total relaxation, why not head over to Maroa Club de Mar for the day. Let ‘Mum’ put her feet up, enjoy a leisurely lunch accompanied by a chilled glass of Cava or a refreshing cocktail at our sophisticated beach club.
Whether you are holidaying with us or at home, we wish all our Anfi ‘Madres’ a lovely Mother’s Day!
