Anfi Supports Girl Power
22/08/2011 - Anfi del Mar becomes a makeshift catwalk for the photo shoot of swimwear range of Agüita Canarias.
Anfi del Mar was chosen to be converted into setting for the photo shoot for the new Summer 2012 Swimwear collection of the fashion brand, Agüita Canarias.
During the shoot, which was organized by the Puzzle Group, five young local models caught the attention of passing locals and tourists who were spending their holidays at Anfi del Mar as they made the most of many of Anfi del Mar’s most iconic locations - shooting on the beach, in a penthouse, on Anfi Island’s pontoon and around the newly opened Maroa Club de Mar.
During the two day shoot for their Summer 2012 swimwear range campaign, local models including Adriana Reveron, Miss Spain and Laura Ojeda, 2011 Carnival Queen and winner of New Face of Agüita Canarias 2011, stoically strutted their stuff under the scorching sun as they show cased the funky new swimming range - very much to the delight of the male onlookers.
Located on the Anfi Island, the new chill- out, Maroa Club de Mar, with its Balearic-style beach coolness and stunning ocean backdrop, was chosen as the perfect venue to host Agüita Canarias’ sunset shoot.
Launched in 1998 by local designer Patricia Lodos, the brand targets young athletic, independent minded young women who like to express their individuality. And, indeed Agüita Canarias own all women team is made up of surfers, a BMX rider, a mountain climber and a swimming champion.
Characterising their swimwear line as “comfortable and beautiful swimsuits made by women for girl athletes and all those outdoor types who love fashion”, Agüita Canarias strive to fill a niche in the market by offering good quality, pretty designs at affordable prices.
And affordable prices don’t mean sweatshop conditions for workers. With a philosophy of “giving back”, the company contracts young single mothers, teaching them sewing skills and getting them back into the job market and a percentage generated from sales of their children’s swimwear range goes to children’s charities.
Over the years Agüita Canarias has regularly participated in the major fashion shows around Spain, where the internationally celebrated top model Ariadne Artiles has modelled their collections. Optimistic about the future - the fashion brand has been increasingly receiving plaudits internationally - founder, Patrica Lodos, plans to add a full selection of women’s wear and men’s wear to her collection.
